Happy Fall!

Rob and I both have Sundays and Mondays off and we've been trying to do something different and fun each weekend. Today we decided to have a "fall" day so we headed to a local pumpkin farm where we picked out pumpkins and went through the corn maze!

These are the pumpkins we ended up taking home with us! [Plus one more that didn't end up in picture]

Rob found the perfect one!

Happy fall!

I love sun flowers ♥

Our new home!

At the beginning of September we moved into our new apartment after staying with my parents for two months (thanks for putting up with us mom and dad!) We really love the new place and the location is much better as far as the commute goes for work. The new apartment is bigger than our first, with two bedrooms and bathrooms, and we have our own washer/dryer (woo hoo)! Here are a few pictures:

This is my bathroom (we now have a boys and a girls bathroom, lol, just because we've never had two before). The laundry machines are also tucked into this bathroom.

Here is our master bedroom

This is our cute kitchen. I love having new-ish appliances and the white cabinets.

Our living room with a view of the dining room

We have a fire place! I put these really neat flameless candles inside the fire place and I really like how they look :)

Time to catch up on the last few months!

It has been a while since I updated our blog! Here are some of the highlights of our summer (in reverse order, lol). Towards the end of summer we went a neat festival with my parents in Snohomish, WA called Fire in the Sky (see photo above). A bunch of hot air balloons were set up in the field and as the sun went down it was really cool to see them light up.

Rob's brother turned 30 in July and to celebrate some of their cousins came up to visit. While they were here we did a bunch of fun tourist-y Seattle stuff that we haven't done in forever. Above photo: me and the other wives in front of the Fremont Troll, as seen in movies such as 10 Things I Hate about You. We also rode the monorail, walked around Pike Place Market, went up in the space needle, and went to a Mariner's vs. Yankees game!

Here we are at the Mariner's game. We lost :( But it was still fun!

At the top of the Space Needle! Beautiful views but a little scary.

And at the beginning of summer...I graduated from college!! For the first time ever I'm no longer a student, which I'm loving for the time being!

I couldn't have done it without the support of my parents and Rob! Thank you! I love you all so much!

Three weeks until graduation!!

Yesterday was a huge day for me! I passed my master's thesis defense and that means I will be receiving a masters of science in exercise science at the end of the quarter! I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders now that my defense is done and over with. (In case you're wondering by defense I mean oral presentation of my thesis/research project, during which I am graded and questioned by faculty members who then determine if I will pass or fail). At the beginning of this program the idea of a thesis and defense seemed so daunting and quite possibly like the worst experience I would have thus far, but it turned out to be much more do-able than I imagined. I'm so grateful for all of the support Rob and my family has given me as I've gone through this process; I couldn't have done it without them! It meant so much to me to have them all there to watch my defense! I've been so blessed to have this experience and opportunity, and now I can't believe my college experience is finally over (at least for the time being. Who knows, maybe I'll go back at one point). Time to be a true "grown up" and join the working world!

After my defense we walked around campus and took a few pictures so I had some choices for my graduation announcements!

Much needed update!

Wow, I haven't updated this in a really long time so I think it's time! This has been a crazy year so far but I'm so close to finishing up my masters! Only 1 1/5 more quarters to go, woo hoo!! I have been so busy this quarter collecting data and working on writing my thesis; it's so much work but I know it's going to be so worth it in the end. Besides my thesis I am taking a full course load and working in the exercise department teaching activity classes and helping professors with undergraduate lab classes. There hasn't been a lot of time for fun but Rob and I do our best to squeeze some much needed fun and quality time in whenever we can!

Rob is still working at Hollywood Video and pondering what to do next, whether that be going into law enforcement or maybe something in the law field. I know he'll be awesome at whatever he chooses and I'm doing my best to support him in this important life decision! We still haven't decided if we're going to stay in Ellensburg or move back to the Seattle area so we will see where the next few months takes us!

The beautiful orchid Rob bought me for Valentines day!

My 24th birthday cake that Rob picked out :)

My trip to San Luis Obispo

In September I took a trip with my family to San Luis Obispo to help get Taylor moved into his dorm room and to say goodbye. I'm really glad I was able to go and see where he's living. I'm not going going to lie, I'm a little jealous! I didn't think I would be but it's so close to the ocean, the town is amazing, and his apartment is really nice. I haven't talked to him much since he's been gone but it sounds like he's doing great and enjoying his first quarter at college. It's really weird to go home to my parent's house and have him be gone. I keep expecting to see him but then I remember that he won't be back until Christmas. Here are some pictures from our trip:

In SLO there is an alley they call "bubble gum alley" where there is tons of gum stuck to the walls. Totally gross!

We made it down to the beach! So gorgeous, I'd be here every day

The beach is ten minutes from campus

They have an outdoor pool on campus! And a volley ball pit. I guess that's the thing to do when it's around 70 degrees every day

This is Taylor's living room

And his kitchen

Here's Taylor in his bedroom!

Rodeo Weekend

All summer I've been looking forward to Rodeo Weekend (known by most people as Labor Day weekend, lol), because I love the fair, rodeo, and spending time with our families. Like last year both of our families came up to spend the day with us and we all went to the rodeo in the afternoon. Unfortunately the weather was terrible, which was just my luck. It seems like every time we have a major event that people come to visit us for the weather is awful. It rained pretty much the whole day and our seats at the rodeo were not under the covered grand stand, so we sat in the rain for 3+ hours. At first we didn't mind, but by the end we were all soaking wet and pretty miserable so we decided to skip going to the fair and we all went back to our house instead.

Even though the weather was crappy it was still really good to see our families and spend the last weekend of summer with them :)

This is the only picture I got of the actual rodeo because it was raining so much I didn't want to get my blackberry wet

But that evening we took a few pictures so I could wear my cowboy hat :)
